Our U16 Youth Team played the BC Muslim Sports Association run Nations Cup, held at Newton Athletic Park on Saturday, August 24, 2019. Six teams competed in a 7 v 7 format. Team WRMA, coached & managed by Saad, played under the banner of 'Pakistan.'
Our skillful team defeated Vanua Levu by 2-1. The second game provided some competition. However, New Zealand did not match our hard-working youth, who won by 3-2 to reach the semi-finals.
Our team brilliantly came from behind to defeat Fiji in the semi-finals. After trailing 3-0, our youth fought hard & tied the game by scoring a last-minute goal. It was a thrilling match that saw them winning on penalties. The boys were worthy finalists & finished the tournament as Runners-Up. It was a remarkable achievement, given that they had no substitute players!
There was an entertaining blend of courage & determination on full display on the pitch. Hats off to our guest players who provided excellent support to the side. Please drop us a line at info@whiterockmuslims.com to learn more about our Youth Sports-related activities.
BC Muslim Sports Association organizes the Mosque Cup each year. This year, the soccer cup was held at Newton Athletic Park on the weekend of July 6 and 7, 2019. The White Rock Muslim Association entered a U18 team for the first time in the 7 v 7 competition.
After losing the first game to Surrey Jamia, our team came back strong & won the second game against the Strikers 3-0 to reach the Semis. Team WRMA went down fighting against fierce opposition.
The roster included a blend of highly skilled & hard working youth players coached & managed by Saad. Arhum supported him well. The team displayed a fantastic brand of soccer & kept the supporters entertained throughout the day. Thanks to the parents for their support & encouragement. Team WRMA will build on the strength & work ethic shown at the Cup.
